Malkangiri: BSF personnel during an intensive search in Silakota Reserve Forest in Malkangiri district on Saturday have unearthed multiple Maoist dumps containing IEDs and other explosives buried beneath trees.
According to an official press release, the Operation party of the BSF located multiple Maoist dumps, buried beneath multiple trees located closely at a distance of 04 mtrs from each other and at a distance of approx 300 mtrs inside the jungle from the connecting road axis of village Bapanpalli and Silakota along the Silakota Reserve Forest under Podia police limits of Malkangiri district on Saturday.
The BSF Ops party has recovered 2 Pressure Cooker IEDs of 12 kg each, 01 Pressure Cooker IED of 15 kg, 20 mtrs of Cordex, 24 gelatin sticks and 02 bundles (approx 200 mtrs) of electric wire from the multiple Maoist dumps, the release said.
In the wake of the recovery, further combing and search operations would continue to make the area safe for security forces as well as for the inhabitants of the area, the release added.
Earlier, the area used to be highly influenced by Maoists and their sympathizers. The Maoist outfits would keep IEDs, Arms & IED-making materials at isolated places to be used against the security forces and police operating in these areas.
The BSF is actively operating in Malkangiri district and extensively dominating the area.
Such recoveries are expected to certainly dent Maoist strategy and dampen their spirits to take on the ever-growing dominance of security forces.
