Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against 16 persons, including the alleged mastermind Shankar Prusty, in connection with the Odisha Police SI exam scandal.
The chargesheet, submitted in court, includes evidence against the accused, who are alleged to have indulged in malpractices to manipulate the exam results.
The accused include Shankar Prusty, Muna Mohanty, Suresh Nayak, Soumya Priyadarshini, Rinku Maharana, Biranchi Nayak, and Nitish Kumar, among others. While nine of the accused were arrested by the Crime Branch, seven were produced in court by the investigating agency.
The investigation revealed that Shankar, a resident of Hinjili, had connections with senior officials, politicians, and police officers. He allegedly used his companies, Pansoft Tech Private Limited and Kedarnath Technologies, to manipulate the exam process. Muna Mohanty, a close associate of Shankar, was involved in recruiting candidates and arranging their training in Andhra Pradesh.
It is pertinent to mention that the scandal came to light when 114 candidates, along with six agents, were arrested by the Berhampur police while attempting to travel to Andhra Pradesh for the written examinations.
The central investigating agency stated that a probe is underway, and evidence suggests more individuals may be involved in the Odisha Police SI recruitment exam scandal.
