Malkangiri: Inspired by the Odisha government’s surrender and rehabilitation polity for extremists, a CPI(Marxist) from neighbouring Chhattisgarh surrendered before the Malkangiri SP Nitesh Wadhwani on Wednesday. The surrendered Maoist has been identified as Mukesh Khosa.
Mukesh, a resident of Sukumajilla Silgar village, joined the outlawed Maoist organisation in 2023. He has been active in the Maoist organisation for 8 months and was involved in many violent incidents.
Kosha has been given Rs 2 lakh as ex-gratia as per the surrender policy of the Odisha government, said DIG Charan Singh Meena.
According to a press release issued by Malkangiri Police, Kosha was inspired by the various developmental activities undertaken by the Government of Odisha in Malkangiri and realised the futility of the violent path of Naxalism. The extremist was disillusioned with his organisation leaders after realising that they were doing nothing for the development of their area and were only interested in their gains.
