Bhubaneswar: An ambulance ferrying a child patient suddenly caught fire near Khannagar Chhak on late Sunday night. However, no one was injured in the mishap.
As per report, the blaze broke out around 1 am while the ambulance was en route to Shishu Bhawan from Badachana area in Jajpur district. Thanks to the child’s family members’ presence of mind and prompt action by the ambulance staff, the child patient and everyone on board safely before the fire intensified.
It is learnt that the vehicle was moving from Khannagar Chhak towards Purighat when smoke and flames erupted.
Upon being informed, fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire. However, the ambulance was completely destroyed in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
