Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today arrested a senior clerk working at the office of District Ayurveda Medical Officer in Keonjhar for receiving Rs 5000 bribe from an Ayurvedic Assistant to prepare his arrear salary bill.
The anti-graft officials also recovered and seized the bribe money from the accused clerk, Debasis Mohapatra.
Mohapatra had demanded Rs 15,000 from the complainant for processing the arrear salary bill of him and other Ayurveda Assistants.
He was caught red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000 as advance against the overall demand of bribe Rs 15,000, vigilance said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of the accused from DA angle.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance registered a case under section 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway.
