CM Majhi Announces Rs 4L Ex-Gratia For Next Of Kin Of 3 Minors Drowned In Nayagarh Pond

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the three minors who drowned in a pond in Godibida village under Daspalla block in Nayagarh district, on Sunday.

The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident and extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families.

“Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha has expressed deep grief over the loss of three children who drowned in a pond in Godibida village, Nayagarh district. He has also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of the deceased,” the Chief Minister’s Office posted on X (formerly Twitter).

According to reports, the minors had gone to bathe in the pond when one of them slipped into deep water. In an attempt to save him, two other minors jumped in, leading to the tragic incident.

The bodies of the children were recovered from the pond and transported to a local hospital, where they were declared dead by the attending doctor.
