CM Majhi Launches 'Ama Shasana'

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday launched ‘Ama Shasana’ (Our Governance), a new public service initiative aimed at strengthening citizen engagement and improving the implementation of welfare schemes through direct feedback.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the programme at Lok Seva Bhawan in the presence of cabinet ministers and senior bureaucrats. A dedicated web portal — www.amashasana.odisha.gov.in — was also launched to allow citizens to share their opinions on the execution of various government schemes.

“This is not just another scheme. It is a mission to take governance to the doorstep of every village,” CM Majhi said, adding that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.

As part of Ama Shasana, citizens can contact a toll-free helpline (14471) or message via WhatsApp (7400221903) for grievance redressal and communication. The initiative also enables the Chief Minister and ministers to randomly call beneficiaries to directly gather feedback.

Shortly after the launch, Majhi interacted with several citizens, including a girl student who had received Rs 5,000 under the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme. The scheme, introduced in the 2024–25 academic year, provides financial assistance to ST students enrolling in Class 9 and 11 to reduce school dropout rates.

During the call, the student said she used the funds to buy books, stationery, and essentials like a dress and shoes. CM Majhi asked if any school authorities had demanded money for processing the benefit and assured her of swift action if any issues arose. He encouraged students to report problems either directly to him or through the helpline.

Majhi also spoke to a male beneficiary of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, inquiring about his experience and any challenges faced in accessing hospital services.

“The government is now reaching the people directly. This is a people’s government, guided by the people’s voice,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on social media platform X.
