Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday visited two major industrial units in Khordha district and stressed the state government’s focus on boosting industrialisation and creating employment opportunities for local youth.
The Chief Minister visited the garment manufacturing facility of Epic Group’s Trimetro Garments India Pvt Ltd at Kalibati and later inspected Anadrone Systems, a defence and drone technology company at Mundaamba. He interacted with employees and reviewed operations at both units.
During his visit to Trimetro Garments, Majhi interacted with workers and enquired about their working conditions, skill development, and workplace environment. Employees shared their experiences and expressed satisfaction over local job opportunities, stating that they no longer need to migrate to other states for employment.
The Chief Minister said the government is committed to promoting industrial growth, expanding employment opportunities, and ensuring that Odisha’s youth get quality jobs within the state. He also emphasised the need to strengthen skill development initiatives and encourage industries to prioritise local hiring.
Majhi directed industrial stakeholders to focus on developing supporting infrastructure for workers, including better facilities in industrial areas. He also underlined the importance of ensuring safe and comfortable working conditions, particularly for women employees.
He further said the government is planning modern hostels for workers and improved transport facilities, including electric bus services, to ensure safe and eco-friendly daily commuting in industrial zones.
The Chief Minister said several new industrial units would be established in the region in the coming years, which would further boost employment generation and contribute to economic growth. He also noted the potential for development of ancillary industries around major industrial hubs.
It may be noted that Trimetro Garments, a unit of global apparel manufacturer EPIC Group, has commenced production in India for the first time. The project was launched after the foundation stone was laid on April 3, 2025, and became operational in a short span of time.
The Rs 376-crore facility has generated around 7,000 jobs, with a majority of workers being women. The unit manufactures products for global fashion brand Uniqlo, marking a significant development in Odisha’s textile sector.
During his visit to Anadrone Systems, Majhi interacted with CEO Anant Bhalotia and reviewed the company’s work in defence and drone technology. He appreciated the use of drone systems in Operation “SINDOOR”, which reportedly achieved 100 per cent success.
The Chief Minister also inspected advanced defence equipment being developed at the facility, including aerial targets, target launchers and trailers, ground support systems, and ground stations. He said such technological advancements strengthen national security and are a matter of pride for Odisha.
Senior officials including Khordha MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, and Khurda District Magistrate Amrit Ruturaj accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
