Bhubaneswar: After a brief hiatus, cold wave is expected to return to Odisha this week as the night/minimum temperature is likely to drop again under the influence of western disturbances.
The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has predicted that the temperature will drop by 2°C to 4°C below normal. As a result, the several places across Odisha, especially Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, and Nabarangpur, are likely to experience a cold wave again.
However, there is unlikely to be any significant change in the weather conditions during the next three days.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for cold and dense fog in some districts of Odisha, including Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Koraput, till Wednesday. Visibility is likely to drop below 50 meters in these districts. A warning of zero visibility has also been issued at some places.
Along with this, light to moderate fog is likely to be experienced in Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Cuttack and Khurdha.
