Bhubaneswar: The cold wave sweeping several parts of Odisha is likely to continue till December 17. According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, cold wave conditions are likely to prevail at some places in Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts till Monday. Shallow to moderate fog is also likely in some places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir and Sundargarh till Monday morning.
The IMD attributed the chilly weather to the dry and cold northwesterly winds flowing towards the state.
The IMD further said that a fresh low pressure is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours. The system may to become more marked and move west-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast during the subsequent two days.
