Bhubaneswar: The 7th meeting of the State Commission for Persons with Disabilities was held at 3.30 pm in the conference room at Toshal Bhawan under the chairmanship of Bratati Harichandan.
The meeting held a detailed discussion on “Property Rights and Land Ownership Problems of the Disabled”. Deputy Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, and Joint Inspector General of Registration, Odisha, Cuttack attended as departmental authorities.
Additional District Collector of Khordha, Pratap Chandra Beura, attended as a guest and discussed various problems faced by persons with disabilities and their solutions. He said under Vasundhara Yojana, there is provision to provide homestead land for families whose total land area is less than 4 decimals. He added that since there are various categories of disabilities, categorization would be useful.
Commissioner Bratati Harichandan said she had sought information on facilities available for differently-abled in the Revenue Department and requested that application forms for any scheme should include an option for facilities for differently-abled.
Sanyasi Behera, Deputy Secretary, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, presented various problems faced by differently-abled with examples and discussed solutions.
Additional District Magistrate of Cuttack, Dibyalochana Mahanta, also participated in the discussion and shared his views. The OSD of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities delivered the welcome address. Officers of various departments, social institutions, organizations and staff of the State Commission participated in the discussion.
