Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has made special arrangements for smooth darshan by devotees at the Sri Lingaraj Temple here on the occasion of Maha Sivaratri tomorrow.
“Total 5 Addl SPs, 11 ACPs, 19 Inspectors, around 80 SIs & ASIs, 32 platoons of police force and 110 home guards will be deployed for Maha Sivaratri in Bhubaneswar,” informed Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh today.
Singh said that since large number of devotees are expected to come for darshan at the Sri Lingaraj Temple for Maha Sivaratri, the Commissionerate Police has made detailed arrangement.
The DCP said that a control room has been established from where the total arrangement can be monitored.
“This control room will facilitate coordination between our men deployed at different posts at the Sri Lingaraj Temple, monitoring of parking arrangements and coordination with headquarters in the event of any incident arising inside or outside the temple,” said Singh.
In addition to that all important places have been put under CCTV surveillance so that movement of people, snatchers and thieves can be observed, he added.
He informed that barricading has been done in all four directions by the Commissionerate Police while adding that restrictions have been imposed on vehicular movement.
The DCP said that arrangements have been made for parking of vehicles in as many as 13 places and people can visit the temple only by foot.
That apart, arrangement for drinking water, keeping of shoes and arrangement for maintaining queque by devotees has been made, he added.
“Policemen in plain clothes will patrol the area to keep an eye on anti-social elements. There will be watchers, QRT, SOG, district police and other emergency teams will be present. In addition to this there will fire control teams.”
Apart from Sri Lingaraj Temple police arrangements have been made in temples at other 10 police station areas, Singh said.
One way and traffic diversions have been planned in and around Sri Lingaraj Temple, he informed.
