Bhubaneswar: Cyber police in Bhubaneswar have arrested a person for allegedly looting Rs 35 lakh from the bank account of a former Indian Air Force official.
The accused has been identified as Santosh Sahu of Pattamundai area in Kendrapara district.
Police have seized Rs 6 lakh, cheques and bank pass book from Sahu’s possession. Sahu is a diploma holder in data science.
Sahu was arrested following a complaint by former Indian Air Force Group Captain Kishore Chandra Gantayat.
“The accused developed acquaintance with the complainant on 23rd July this year. The complainant had visited AIIMS for some work and it was here the accused got introduced with the complainant. The complainant revealed to the accused that he had lost some money in online gaming. The accused on winning the confidence of the complainant told him that he would help him in getting back the money he has lost in online gaming. In the process the accused accessed the complainant’s mobile phone and the data stored therein. And through that the accused had accessed the complainant’s bank account,” informed Gautam Kisan, ACP Zone-5, Bhubaneswar.
