Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that cyclone Montha over the southeast Bay of Bengal will rapidly intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay by the morning of October 28, with winds of 90-100 kmph and gusts up to 110 kmph. It is likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Kalingapatnam and Machilipatnam, close to Kakinada, between the evening and night of October 28, with wind speeds of 90-100 kmph and gusts up to 110 kmph.
According to Weather Scientist Uma Shankar Das, the severe cyclonic storm is predicted to make landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast between Kalingapatnam and Machilipatnam, near Kakinada, on the evening of October 28, bringing winds of 90-100 kmph that could gust up to 110 kmph.

Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the southwest and adjoining central Bay of Bengal, as well as areas along and off the coasts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha until October 29. Those currently at sea are urged to return to safety immediately.
