Bhubaneswar: An upper-air cyclonic circulation has developed over north Thailand, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
According to the IMD, as of 08: 30 am on September 16, the system was active over north Thailand and extended up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The cyclonic circulation is expected to emerge over the north Andaman Sea around the evening of September 18.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region by the evening of September 19.Thereafter, the system is forecast to intensify gradually and move west-northwestwards towards the south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh coasts over the next three to four days.
The weather department is closely monitoring the evolving system and will issue further updates as it develops.
