Puri: The boundary wall of a government Project Primary School in Paikasahi under Jenapur panchayat in Delang block in Puri district collapsed on Wednesday. As it was a holiday, students were not present on the campus and thus escaped a major accident.
According to reports, continuous rain triggered by a low-pressure system led to waterlogging around the school. This is believed to have weakened the northern boundary wall, causing it to collapse.
The School Management Committee has demanded immediate reconstruction of the collapsed wall and a safety check of the remaining boundary walls. It has urged the school authorities and the School & Mass Education Department to take the incident seriously and take prompt steps to ensure the safety of students.
