Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic storm “Hamoon” formed in the west-central Bay of Bengal has moved northeastwards and intensified into a severe cyclonic storm in the northwest Bay of Bengal, near latitude Paradip in Odisha, 270 km south-southeast Khepupara in Bangladesh. According to the morning bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is very likely to move near Khepupara and Chittagong around noon.
The cyclonic storm over the northwest and adjoining northeastwards with a speed of 18 kmph during the past six hours will move north-northeastwards and cross the Bangladesh coast at noon of October 25 as a deep depression.
Rainfall forecast: Light to moderate rain/ thundershowers are very likely to occur the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, and at a few places over the rest districts and one or two places in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, while dry weather is likely over the rest districts of Odisha.
Sea condition: High to very high sea conditions are prevailing and it is likely to continue till October 24 with wind speed reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph by October 24 evening. Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph by October 25 noon and it would decrease thereafter.

Light to moderate rain/ thundershowers are very likely to occur in Jajpur, Cuttack, and one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Malkangiri districts.
Day 2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 24.10.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 25.10.23)
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely in one or two places along coastal Odisha districts.
Day 3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 25.10.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 26.10.23)
Light to moderate rain/ thundershowers are very likely in the districts of the rest districts, including Kandhamal.
Day 4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 26.10.2023to 0830 Hrs IST of 27.10.2023)
Light to moderate rain/ thundershowers are very likely over the Odisha districts.
Day 5: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 27.10.2023to 0830 Hrs IST of 28.10.2023)
Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.
