Bhubaneswar: A 60-year-old fisherman went missing in the Mahanadi river near Paradip in the early hours of Sunday, with officials suspecting a crocodile attack.
The missing fisherman has been identified as Mahendra Sethi. He had gone fishing near Chaumuhani, close to Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district, when the incident occurred. Locals suspect he was dragged away by a crocodile.
The Kujang fire brigade, along with local residents, has launched a search operation to trace him. The incident has triggered panic in the area, with residents fearful of venturing near the river. Search operations are underway.
