Bhubaneswar: In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of one former Additional Tahasildar of Deogaon Tahasil in Balangir district for demanding and accepting a bribe.
Rajendra Choudhury, ORS, former Additional Tahasildar of Deogaon Tahasil, was convicted by the Special Vigilance Judge, Balangir. He was sentenced to undergo 3 years of rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 10,000 for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant to issue a transit pass in Y-Form.
The case was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The court found him guilty and delivered the verdict today.
Following his conviction, the Odisha Vigilance Department has decided to move the competent authority for the stoppage of pension benefits of the convicted former officer.
