Bhubaneswar: The State Vigilance on Monday arrested a former senior official of the Tribal Development Cooperative Corporation Ltd (TDCCOL) on charges of corruption. The person in question, Rohit Kumar Parida was working as a General Manager with the TDCCOL at R Udaygiri in Gajapati district and was re-engaged on a contractual basis post-retirement.
The anti-corruption agency had received a complaint against Parida about him taking illegal gratification from different sources and was on Vigilance’s radar. On Monday, a team of the Vigilance intercepted him near a petrol pump in Chandragiri and confiscated Rs 5.54 lakh from his possession which he could not account for satisfactorily.
“Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at his Government residential quarter and office located at Chandragiri and R Udayagiri as well as his house at here at Sishupalgarh, Bhubaneswar and Kashipur in Keonjhar,” the Vigilance stated.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance has registered a case under Sections 13 (2) and 13(1) (b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against Parida. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court, the Vigilance stated.
