Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal around October 10. Although the India Meteorological Department hasn’t confirmed whether a low-pressure area will develop, they have issued alerts, predicting potential heavy rainfall.
Currently, a trough is active over North Coastal Odisha, interior Odisha, Telangana, and South Chhattisgarh. A cyclonic circulation is active over North-East Jharkhand and its adjoining areas, which may lead to thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in various parts of the state over the next three days, according to the IMD.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued yellow warnings for several districts, predicting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The districts under alert include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Some areas have already received rainfall, with Chandbali recording 36mm, Keonjhar 7mm, Titlagarh 4mm, and Nayagarh 5mm. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow weather updates for further guidance.
