Bhubaneswar: The Dhenkanal district administration demolished an illegal brick kiln owned by Bhubaneswar Parida in Damol village near Jharasai under Parjang block in the district.

The operation began with fire department personnel dousing the kiln structure with water to control potential hazards. Subsequently, a bulldozer was deployed to raze the kiln and destroy the bricks already produced, effectively shutting down the unauthorised unit. The action stemmed from multiple complaints highlighting pollution and illegality.

Local political figures from Damol village approached the Parjang MLA, who submitted a written complaint to the District Collector, Dhenkanal. Villagers also lodged grievances with the District Collector, Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB), and the Chief Minister’s office.

The Pollution Department further urged prompt intervention.Acting on these, the District Magistrate directed the Kamakhyanagar sub-collector to execute the demolition.

Officials present included the Kamakhyanagar sub-collector, Tehsildar, District Junior Mining Officer, and an Assistant Environmental Scientist from the Angul Pollution Department.
