Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha today, according to a report by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The regional centre of IMD has forecast heavy rain activity in the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.

IMD has also issued a ‘Yellow Warning’, alerting isolated heavy rain at one or two places in the above-mentioned nine districts.

The northern districts of Odisha will also experience light to moderate rainfall in many places due to the formation of low pressure over the Bay of Bengal on July 19.

The twin-city forecast by IMD states a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum temperature of 27°C for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack today.

According to a post on the X handle of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, “Cumulative rainfall realized during June 1 to July 17, 2024, is 280.1 mm against its normal value of 382.8 mm. During this period, 11 districts were normal, and the rest 19 districts were in the deficient category.”
