Malkangiri: Internet Restriction has been extended for another 24 hours in Malkangiri district amid ongoing tensions in the MV 26 village in the district.
The district administration announced that the suspension of mobile internet (2G/3G/4G/5G), dongle services, and all forms of social media access will continue from 12:00 midnight tonight (December 11–12) till 12:00 midnight tomorrow (December 12–13). The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of rumours and maintain law and order following recent violence.
In a related development, the much-awaited ‘Malyabanta Mahotsav’, originally scheduled from December 14 to 18 at the foothills of Malyabant hill, has been postponed indefinitely. Organisers cited the prevailing situation as the reason. A new date will be announced later.
Southern Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) and Malkangiri District Collector visited MV-26 village and other sensitive areas in the district to take stock of the ground situation. The officials held discussions with local police, forces, and community representatives.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate and refrain from spreading false information. Essential services, emergency communication, remain operational.
