Bhubaneswar: The second Lok Adalat of the year, conducted by the Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), saw the disposal of over 40,000 cases and settlement of disputes amounting to Rs 8.84 crore across various courts and revenue complexes in the district.
The Lok Adalat was held across all trial division courts and revenue court complexes in Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Banapur, Chilika, Tangi, Begunia, and Jatni. A total of 73,329 cases were taken up for hearing, out of which 40,236 cases were successfully disposed of through mutual settlement and conciliation.
The settled cases generated a total recovery of Rs 8,84,83,650 through revenue realisation, fines, and amicable agreements between parties. The proceedings covered a wide range of disputes, including criminal compoundable cases, cheque bounce matters, bank recovery cases, motor vehicle accident claims, labour disputes, traffic violations, and various public utility cases.
The Lok Adalat also addressed matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition matters, revenue and civil cases, along with pre-litigation cases involving non-payment of bank loans, telephone bills, and electricity dues.
District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the Khordha District Legal Services Authority, Biranchi Narayan Mohanty, appreciated the efforts of all judicial officers and associated departments for the successful conduct of the Lok Adalat. He expressed gratitude to revenue officials, regional bank managers, telecom and insurance representatives for their cooperation in ensuring effective settlement of cases.
Mohanty also congratulated the participating advocates for their role in facilitating settlements and urged them to prepare in advance for the upcoming National Lok Adalat to ensure even greater efficiency in dispute resolution.
Khordha DLSA Secretary Salomi Sahu was also present during the proceedings. She thanked the court staff and all supporting officials for their coordination and valuable contribution to the smooth conduct of the Lok Adalat.
