Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Sangeeta Mohapatra, a Junior Engineer (JE), Khurda block in Khurda district, from her office while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant for passing final bills for release of payment in connection with a development work executed by the contractor.
The entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sangeeta Mohapatra.
Following the successful trap laid to arrest the accused red-handed, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations of Mohapatra from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
According to an official release issued by the Vigilance Department, a case has been registered in this connection at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has been registered. Further investigation into the case is in progress and a detailed report is awaited.
