Lack Of Resources & Poverty No Impediment For MBBS Student Subhalaxmi From Kendrapara

Kendrapara: This girl from a distant Odisha village in the Kendrapara district has passed the NEET exam despite living in extreme poverty and is an inspiration to others. MBBS student Subhalaxmi Sahu is a native of Kendrapara’s Narada village.

There have been many challenges along the way for her, but she has never lost her focus and grit to qualify NEET. The struggle of Subhalaxmi will undoubtedly serve as an example for everyone to never give up even in the face of difficulty.

At Balasore’s Fakir Mohan Medical College, she is currently pursuing an MBBS degree after securing 391st rank in NEET this year. Her father, Brajakishore Sahu, sells stationary by cycling from village to village.

He must leave the house every day without fail in order to manage square meals for his family.

Despite receiving high scores for passing the matriculation exam at Talakusuma Govindapur High School, Subhalaxmi’s father had already decided to discontinue her studies in the middle of them because of the family’s dire financial situation.

But given her fervent ambition to become a doctor, he was unable to do that. Brajakishore was able to enroll his daughter at a tutoring facility in Bhubaneswar with the assistance of a well-wisher.

And after much effort, she succeeded in passing the NEET. Subhalaxmi’s mother Kanaklata Prusty said, “I wish she should treat poor people as she has fought all odds.”

“My childhood dream has always been to become a doctor. The accomplishment was not easy, but at the end of the day, I am happy that I could make my parents and village proud. It makes me incredibly happy to see my parents happy,” remarked Subhalaxmi, an inspiration for NEET aspirants of Odisha, and beyond.
