Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the death of two persons in the boat capsize in river Mahanadi at Saradha of Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district on Friday.
The Chief Minister while expressing his deep sympathies to the bereaved families, has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased persons, said a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
In addition to that the Chief Minister has directed the district administration to provide suitable medical treatment to all the rescued persons. He has wished them a speedy recovery.
The release said that Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Jharsuguda Collector and SP are present at the spot and are supervising the rescue operation.
The Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary and Special Relief Commissioner to coordinate the rescue operation.
As many as five scuba divers and two search cameras have been dispatched by air to rescue the four missing persons.
Notably, all the passengers of the capsized boat hail from Kharseni area in neighbouring Chhattisgarh and were going to Patharseni under Ambabhona block for sightseeing.
