Bhubaneswar: Due to incessant rain, a landslide occurred near Dhalapathara in Kanjipani ghati on National Highway-49 in Kendujhar district. Soil, rocks and trees slid down from the hill and blocked one side of the four-lane road.
According to information, the landslide took place around 12 am late last night. Vehicular movement was stopped during the night. After receiving the information, National Highway Authority of India rushed to the spot this morning. Two JCB machines and one Hyva truck are being used for the clearance work.
Officials engaged in the restoration work revealed that intermittent rain is hampering the rescue operations. The entire road is expected to be cleared within the next two to three hours.
