Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea around the evening of September 19 and may later intensify while moving towards the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts, the India Meteorological Department said in its latest update.
According to the bulletin based on observations at 08:30 am on Friday, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Thailand in the mid-tropospheric levels persisted over the same region. The system is very likely to emerge into the north Andaman Sea during the next 24 hours.
Under its influence, a low pressure area is expected to develop over the north Andaman Sea around September 19 evening. Thereafter, it is likely to intensify gradually and move west-northwestwards towards the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts over the subsequent three to four days.
Meteorological authorities are monitoring the system closely and will issue further updates as it evolves.
