Bhubaneswar: A 48-year-old man died after being bitten by a snake at Ganeshpur village in Subarnapur district late Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Subash Ghibila, a resident of Binika block in the district.
According to sources, Subash and his friend Sujit Kumar Panda had gone to their agricultural field around 10 pm to irrigate crops using water from a nearby canal. While working, Subash was bitten by a snake on his left leg.
Sujit immediately rushed him to the Binika Community Health Centre (CHC), but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following the incident, police from Binika reached the hospital, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem.
Subash was the head of his family and is survived by two sons. His death has cast a pall of gloom over the village.
