Sundergarh: Depressed over the death of his wife, a 35-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself at Zero Point area in Tensa under Koira police station in Sundergarh district on Saturday.
Nandalal Champia broke down completely following the death of his wife Jinse Kandulana. Three days after the death of his wife, Nandalal hanged himself leaving behind his four-month-old daughter in the house.
Nandalal had married Jines two years ago and they had given birth to a baby girl four months ago. Jines recently suffered critical burn injuries while her saree caught fire from a bonfire. She was admitted to a hospital in Rourkela. After battling for life for long days, she succumbed to the burns on March 20.
Her death devastated Nandalal badly. On Saturday evening, he hanged himself from a tree behind his home after making his son sleep inside house. When the kid screamed, neighbours rushed to the spot only to see Nandalal hanging.
Neighbours immediately informed the matter to his in-laws members and police.
Police reached the scene and seized the body for autopsy.
