Malkangiri: Police have unearthed a major Maoist dump in the forested area between Dabuguda and Arlingpada villages under Jodambo police limits of Malkangiri district on the Andhra-Odisha border during an area domination exercise on Thursday evening.
The unearthing of the dump has led to the recovery and seizure of a huge quantity of arms, explosives, IEDs and other incriminating articles.
The seized articles include 02 nos. country-made guns, 12 nos. 12 Bore ammunitions, 01 nos. SLR ammunition (damaged), 02 nos. HE Grenade, 01 nos. IED (4kg), 01 nos. IED (2kg), 01 nos. Tiffin IED (Damaged), 55 nos. Gelatine sticks, 02 kg explosive, 01 cracker, 10 mtr Codex wire, 01 nos. IED mechanism, camping materials, etc.
Police suspect that seized explosives along with other articles belongs to the Maoist cadres of the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of the banned CPI (Maoist) and were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces.
Further intelligence gathering and combing operations by the police are underway in the area.
