Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours with Mayurbhanj district recording the highest showers, according to a release issued by the IMD. The IMD said three places in the state recorded very heavy rainfall while 22 stations witnessed heavy rainfall during this period.
Bahalda in Mayurbhanj recorded the highest rainfall at 273.0 mm. Rairangpur in the same district received 180.0 mm of rain, followed by Jharbandh in Bargarh with 150.0 mm. Other areas that received significant rainfall include Jamda at 124.0 mm and Bangiriposhi at 112.4 mm in Mayurbhanj, Balisankara at 115.0 mm and Tensa at 112.8 mm in Sundargarh, and Mandiradam at 105.2 mm and Banaigarh at 103.0 mm also in Sundargarh.
Mayurbhanj also recorded 107.0 mm in Buatala, 96.2 mm in Tiring, 92.0 mm in Sarasakana and 76.6 mm in Chandanpur. In Sundargarh, Gurundia received 92.0 mm, Rourkela 88.0 mm, Kuchinda 74.7 mm, Rajgangpur 74.6 mm and Lahunipara 72.0 mm.
Bargarh district recorded 88.0 mm in Padampur, 71.4 mm in Barapali and 67.4 mm in Bijepur. Sambalpur district saw 82.0 mm in Jujumara, 77.5 mm in Bamra, 75.0 mm in Kirmara and 68.3 mm in Dhankauda.
Jharsuguda recorded 75.0 mm.With continuous rains lashing several districts, authorities have been asked to stay alert, especially in Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh and Bargarh.
The IMD has advised people to remain cautious and follow instructions from the district administration as more rainfall is likely in the coming days.
