Keonjhar: A prisoner serving rigorous life imprisonment on charges of murder escaped from the Keonjhar District Jail in Odisha on Sunday.
The inmate has been identified as Paresh Munda, who has been lodged in Keonjhar District Jail since 2014 for a brutal murder.
Paresh was assigned gardening work in the jail but he mysteriously disappeared on Saturday. When the matter came to the light on Sunday, the jail authorities lodged a complaint with the Keonjhar Town Police and launched a manhunt for him.
On the basis of the police complaint, security has been beefed up in the region and checking intensified across the district to nab Munda. So far, the police have failed to trace the whereabouts of Munda.
