Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red, orange and yellow warnings predicting significant rainfall activity, particularly between July 5 and July 8.
On July 5, a red warning has been issued, indicating that heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places is very likely to occur over the districts of Sambalpur, Angul, Sonepur, Boudh, and Kalahandi. Besides, an orange warning is in place for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nabrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh. Additionally, a yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Balasore, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
On July 6, the red warning continues with heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places likely over Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Nuapada. An orange warning covers Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, and Kalahandi, while the yellow warning has been issued for Balasore, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nabrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
July 7 will see an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal. Moreover, a yellow warning for heavy rainfall will be in effect for Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, and Nayagarh.
On July 8, orange warning has been issued for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh for heavy to very heavy rainfall, while a yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, and Boudh.
On July 11, a yellow warning for heavy rainfall at one or two places is likely over Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
The IMD has urged residents, especially in red and orange warning districts, to remain vigilant. Low-lying areas may experience waterlogging, and rivers could see a sudden rise in water levels.
Farmers, fishermen, and people in vulnerable regions are advised to take necessary precautions and follow official updates from local authorities.
