Odisha Aims To Become One Among Top Five Developed States: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has outlined a comprehensive vision for the state’s development, emphasizing the need for holistic growth and inclusive development.

Addressing a seminar on ‘Strengthening the Growth Engine of Odisha’ organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Small Enterprises Bharati, Majhi said that the government’s primary goal is to place Odisha among the top five developed states in the country.

Majhi highlighted the importance of leveraging mineral resources to turn the state into a manufacturing hub and emphasized the need for world-class infrastructure, skilled human resources, and adequate employment opportunities. He also stressed the importance of technology-led development and announced plans to construct 75,000 km of high-quality roads in the next five years.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the state is working on various infrastructure projects, including railway projects worth Rs 80,000 crore and highway and road projects worth over Rs 12,000 crore. He also announced plans to develop new urban areas, affordable housing, and world-class infrastructure, with a focus on creating model cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Berhampur, and Sambalpur.

Majhi emphasized the importance of the MSME sector as a major employment generator and announced initiatives to empower MSMEs through cluster-based development, easy credit provision, and digital platforms for market access. He also highlighted the potential benefits of the upcoming GST reform, which is expected to boost consumption, manufacturing, and employment in the country.

The seminar was attended by several dignitaries, including Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampada Chandra Swain, MSME and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulanand Mallick, and ICC Director General Dr. Rajiv Singh.
