Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has completed the correction of Record of Rights (RoR) for more than 4,700 acres of land belonging to Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu in Khordha district, marking significant progress in its drive to secure and legally safeguard temple properties.
According to information shared by the Khordha district administration with the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, authorities identified 796 khatas covering 4,728.357 acres of land recorded in the name of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu and in the names of intermediaries (marfatdars) across different tehsils of the district.
Of these, RoR correction has been completed for 785 khatas covering 4,713.225 acres, leaving only a small number of records pending. Officials said the remaining cases would be taken up on priority and completed at the earliest.
The exercise was undertaken following directions issued by the state government and was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee. The meeting focused on measures to ensure the security, proper maintenance of land records and legal protection of properties belonging to Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu.
Following the review, the Khordha and Bhubaneswar Sub-Collectors, along with tehsildars of the district, coordinated efforts to expedite the correction of land records.
Dr. Padhee said the Revenue Department remains committed to protecting temple lands through accurate record management and legal safeguards. He added that similar initiatives are being pursued across Odisha and described Khordha’s progress as a model for other districts.
The department said the initiative is expected to strengthen the protection of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu’s land assets, improve transparency in revenue administration and help prevent future land disputes.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari congratulated the Khordha Collector and the district administration for the achievement. The department also noted that the establishment of the Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu Land Cell has further strengthened efforts to protect temple land assets across the state.
