Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday dismissed newly appointed Odisha Taxation & Accounts Service (OT&AS) officer Bhimsen Prasad Tudu from government service following his arrest in a criminal case.

According to an official press release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved the dismissal order after Tudu was found absent from his induction training and failed to appear for his final examination at the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM), which began on June 4, 2026.

Tudu’s absence coincided with his arrest by Baranga Police in connection with a criminal case, after which he was remanded to judicial custody. As he remained in police custody for more than 48 hours, disciplinary proceedings were initiated under service rules, leading to his termination from government service.

The government has also declared him ineligible for any future government employment.

Meanwhile, police had earlier arrested Tudu on June 13 for his alleged involvement in abetting the suicide of Chandrika Hembram, a 28-year-old third-year MBBS student of Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore.

Her body was recovered on June 4 from the sandbed of the Kathajodi River near Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Setu under Baranga police station limits in Cuttack.

Police said investigations into the case are ongoing.
