Odisha Govt Ensures Fertilizer Supply For Kharif 2026, Warns Against Black Marketing

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has put in place priority measures to ensure smooth and equitable distribution of fertilizers to farmers for the Kharif 2026 season.

Following the allocation of various fertilizer varieties by the Government of India, adequate stocks have been maintained with Markfed, Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), Large Tribal Multipurpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS) and authorized retailers across the state to meet the entire demand of farmers. Officials have urged farmers not to panic over availability.

To streamline supply, a coordinated monthly fertilizer supply plan has been prepared in consultation with central authorities, fertilizer manufacturing companies, Markfed and other stakeholders. Manufacturing companies and Markfed have been directed to continue supplies keeping in mind the requirements of grassroots cooperative societies and current stock positions.

To safeguard farmers’ interests, District Collectors have been instructed to strictly monitor the use and distribution of fertilizers. The administration aims to completely curb black marketing, smuggling, artificial shortages, illegal cross-border transportation and hoarding.

For this, special enforcement squads comprising officers from the Agriculture, Revenue and Police departments have been formed at both district and block levels. These squads are conducting regular raids at retail and wholesale fertilizer sale centers and keeping close watch on illegal activities.

The government said the steps are aimed at ensuring that farmers receive quality fertilizers at government-fixed prices without any disruption during the Kharif season.
