Bhubaneswar: The Commerce and Transport Department of the Odisha government has issued a notification introducing a One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for pending e-challans. The scheme aims to encourage compliance with road safety regulations and efficiently recover outstanding fines.

The scheme applies to e-challans pending as of July 31, 2025. Violators can settle their fines by paying a reduced amount. However, challans with Prosecution Reports (PR) submitted to designated courts are not eligible for the scheme.

The scheme will be in effect for six months from the date of notification issuance. The Transport Department will oversee the implementation of the scheme and intensify enforcement measures against repeat offenders.

The objectives of the scheme are to recover outstanding fines efficiently and promote road safety by encouraging violators to adopt safer driving habits. After the scheme’s validity, violators will face stricter enforcement, including potential penalties as prescribed in the Motor Vehicles Act.

By introducing this scheme, the Odisha government aims to promote road safety and encourage compliance with traffic regulations.
