Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has established an ‘investigation fund’ to cover expenses during criminal investigations.
It provides specific monetary allocations for the investigation of various criminal cases, including murder (up to Rs 25,000), rape (up to Rs 37,000 outside the state and Rs 18,000 within), kidnapping (Rs 30,000 for out-of-state and Rs 10,000 for in-state), and cybercrime (Rs 45,000 for out-of-state and Rs 25,000 for in-state) investigations.
The unnatural death investigations will get Rs 13,000 for both in-state and out-of-state expenses while Rs 35,000 for out-of-state and Rs 15,000 for in-state cases in the case of drugs and arms smuggling investigations.
The Government will provide Rs 17,000 for property-related offence investigations for both in-state and out-of-state expenses.
The probe agency will get Rs 5,000 for the investigation of miscellaneous cases.
The fund allocations will cover various expenses, such as transportation, accommodation, evidence handling, and witness refreshments, facilitating smoother and more efficient investigations.
