Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born actor-director Chittaranjan Tripathy was appointed the director of the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, on Thursday.
Tripathy is a native of Chandbali in Bhadrak district and he is the first Odia to hold this prestigious position.
Tripathy earned a diploma in acting from NSD in 1996 and is the batch mate of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Tripathy has acted in several Bollywood films, including portraying the popular character of Trivedi in the Netflix web series Sacred Games.’ He also played the role of a police inspector in ‘Chhappak’, which is inspired by the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
In addition, Tripathy also portrayed a negative character in ALT Balaji and ZEE5 web series M.O.M Mission Over Mars and an IAS officer in Abhishek Bachchan-starrer ‘Dasvi’.
The NSD alumnus also directed Odia movies like ‘Dhauli Express’, which received three Odisha State Film Awards, and ‘Mukhyamantri’.
