Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested four more staffers in connection with the financial fraud at the office of the Superintending Engineer, R&B Division-I, Bhubaneswar.
The arrested have been identified as Dipak Kumar Routray and Laxman Biswal, both staffers of the SE office, and two data entry operators Rajib Lochan Senapati and Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.
They were arrested for collusion with Banalata Mohanty, Section Officer, and Bibhudutta Nayak, Junior Assistant, in the alleged embezzlement of government funds amounting to Rs 9,24,10,193. During further investigation, it was revealed that they were working under accused Section Officer Banalata Mohanty and Junior Assistant Bibhudutta Nayak and had received huge amounts from the embezzled funds in their personal accounts.
According to Vigilance, government funds transferred to their private bank accounts include Rs 32,47,800 to peon Dipak Kumar Routray, Rs 16,21,484 to peon Laxman Biswal, Rs 28,28,817 to private data entry operator Rajib Lochan Senapati engaged by the accused Section Officer Banalata Mohanty, and Rs 35,69,098 to private data entry operator Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra also engaged by Banalata Mohanty.
Earlier, accused Section Officer Banalata Mohanty and Junior Assistant Bibhudutta Nayak have already been arrested by Odisha Vigilance. All six accused will be forwarded to the court today.
