Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown on financial irregularities in cooperative institutions, the Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Tarini Prasad Tripathy, Managing Director of K.Singhpur Large Area Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (LAMPCS) in Rayagada district.
Tripathy was taken into custody on May 21, 2026 for allegedly embezzling Rs 75 lakh from the cooperative society.
According to the Vigilance investigation, the fraud was committed between 2024 and 2026 by systematically manipulating official records and accounts. The misappropriated amount primarily belonged to the savings and deposits of ordinary members of the society, severely affecting local stakeholders who relied on the institution for their financial needs.
A case has been registered against Tripathy at Koraput Vigilance Police Station under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. He was produced in court on Thursday and remanded to judicial custody.
The investigation into the case is currently underway.
