Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Dhanurdhar Biswal, Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent at VIMSAR, Burla in Sambalpur district, on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to an official press release, Biswal was taken into custody following simultaneous searches conducted at multiple locations linked to him. He will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, in connection with the case.
During the raids, Vigilance officials reportedly unearthed substantial assets allegedly accumulated by the official. These include two buildings, including a multi-storey structure of around 1,700 sq ft, 32 valuable plots of land, cash worth over Rs 19.72 lakh, gold weighing 83.05 grams, bank and other deposits exceeding Rs 39 lakh, two Hyva trucks, two tractors, and one four-wheeler.
The accused could not satisfactorily account for the sources of the assets recovered during the searches.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station Case No. 09/2026 has been registered against Biswal under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
Further investigation is underway, officials added.
