Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Aswini Meher, Steward in the office of the Superintendent at VIMSAR, Burla in Sambalpur district, on charges of possession of disproportionate assets.
According to an official press release, Meher was placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance and is scheduled to be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, in connection with the case.
During searches conducted at his properties, officials reportedly unearthed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. These include three buildings, including one multi-storeyed structure measuring 8,145 sq. ft., one store room, 83 grams of gold, and 10 valuable plots of land. He was unable to satisfactorily account for these assets, the release stated.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station Case No. 08/2026 has been registered against Meher under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
