Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a person was killed and another injured in a lightning strike at Ragadi village under Korei police station in Jajpur district on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Dilip Nayak (23), was a helper by profession and hailed from Bajrakot village under Kaniha police station in Angul district. The injured has been identified as Pappu Khuntia (27), a resident of Kalanda village in Keonjhar district, is currently undergoing treatment.
According to sources, Pappu was driving a truck with Dilip assisting him. The duo had stopped near a hotel on National Highway 20 around 2.30 pm and were taking a bath before having lunch when the lightning struck unexpectedly.
Dilip succumbed to injuries on the spot, while Pappu sustained injuries.
The police were informed immediately and have registered a case of unnatural death. An investigation is underway.
