Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have arrested another accused in connection with the brutal assault on BMC (Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo during office hours. Sanjeeb Mishra, a local BJP leader from the Jharpada area in Bhubaneswar, has been arrested as the fourth accused in the case.
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena informed about the arrest, following which Mishra, who was earlier suspended from the primary membership of the BJP, was taken into custody.
Earlier, Jeeban Rout, Rashmi Mahapatra, and Debashish Pradhan were arrested after a case was registered at the Kharavela Nagar Police station based on the victim’s complaint.
BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo alleged that he was attacked during a grievance hearing, where some people barged into his chamber, grabbed him by the collar, and assaulted him. A video that went viral on social media purportedly showed the men dragging Sahoo out of his office and repeatedly hitting and kicking him in the face.
Protesting the brutal attack, the Odisha Administration Service Association warned of taking “mass leave”.
