Subarnapur: In a major crackdown, Rampur police on Saturday seized over 9,000 bottles of contraband cough syrup at Sahajbahal village under Dunguripali block of Subarnapur district, arresting one person while three others escaped.
The arrested person has been identified as Gulshan Sahoo, a resident of Satalama village in Bargarh district. Three other suspects involved in the case managed to flee before the police could apprehend them.
Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap in the village. When a suspicious vehicle approached, the team intercepted it and conducted a search in the presence of a magistrate. During the operation, over 9,000 bottles of illegal cough syrup were recovered.
Two vehicles used to transport the contraband were also seized during the raid. Police said further investigation is underway to track down the absconding suspects.
